Dr Kristjan Leosson presented details of DTE's advances in the use of ultra-precise LIBS for the continuous, real-time measurement of molten aluminium in an industrial environment at the 10th EMSLIBS 2019 (https://emslibs.com/) symposium and exhibition in Brno, Czech Republic, September 8-13.
The symposium convenes researchers from all over the world to share ideas and knowledge not only concerning laser ablation itself but also its interdisciplinary applications.
Highlights of the talk included:
LIBS enables precise, repeatable real-time analysis of trace elements molten aluminum during processing
For many elements, LIBS precision is comparable to laboratory OES analysis.
LOQ of 10 ppm or below has been realized in an industrial setting.
