Data Scientist

Job Description

We are looking for a resourceful data scientist to join DTE’s  field of real-time intelligence from liquid metals, helping customers to maximize value, efficiency, safety and sustainability. Our vision is to transform metals production and processing with next-generation sensors and analytics, driving digital transformation of the metals industry towards Industry 4.0. To work on combining powerful machine learning and data analytics from DTE’s liquid metal analyzers, delivering valuable intelligence and predictive insights from liquid metals across the entire value chain.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Translate obtained insight into actions and present to stakeholders

  • Analize and look for correlations in existing data sets

  • Creating and testing hypotheses on our datasets and for our customers

  • Use rigorous statistical approaches to interpret findings correctly 

  • Elicit data-driven action and decision making by presenting findings in dashboards and presentations

  • Do deep-dive analysis to help us develop a more nuanced understanding of our users, their needs, motivations and paint points, so that the team can progress beyond current ways of thinking and find new opportunities 

  • Refine ambiguous product questions and help turn them into concrete hypotheses that can be examined with tests and data analysis 

  • Data cleaning and data preparation

Qualifications and skills

  • An education focused on Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering or similar technical disciplines 

  • 5+ years of experience in a similar position 

  • Strong storytelling skills and ability to communicate cross-functionally to non-technical audiences 

  • Strong statistical knowledge 

  • History of driving business impact through analysis. You understand how to prioritize, what actions are likely to be impactful, and which levers to pull 

  • Strong knowledge in Python, R or other analytical programming language 

  • Knowledge of the SQL language 

  • Knowledge of Data Studio/PowerBI or similar tools 

  • Knowledge of building different types of machine learning models 

  • Knowledge of Spark/Hadoop or other data platforms 

  • Strong English writing skills
